UN Resident Coordinator Calls on Climate Minister Dr. Musadik Malik to Strengthen Environmental Partnership
ISLAMABAD (September 23, 2025) – United Nations resident Coordinator and Humanatarian Coordinator in Pakistan Meets Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik and briefed him about operational activities of different UN agencies in different parts of the country. During the meeting, Mr. Yahya highlighted that 24 UN agencies are currently operating in Pakistan, with their primary focus on supporting the country’s development and resilience, particularly in addressing the challenges of climate change. The Minister and the UN Resident Coordinator also discussed the wide range of large-scale programmes being implemented by the United Nations in Pakistan. The deliberations covered the scope, implementation strategies, and impact of these initiatives, as well as the future directions for enhancing cooperation in climate adaptation, mitigation, and sustainable development. Mr. Yahya reaffirmed the United Nations’ strong commitment to continue supporting Pakistan in its climate change agenda and to work closely with the Government of Pakistan in advancing shared goals for environmental sustainability and resilience. Dr. Musadik Malik appreciated the UN’s sustained partnership and underscored the Government’s determination to strengthen collaborative frameworks that ensure tangible outcomes for communities most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
