Azerbaijan envoy calls on Climate Minister, invites him to World Urban Forum in Baku

ISLAMABAD (February 19, 2026) - Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Mr Khazar Farhadov, called on Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr Musadik Malik at his office on Monday.

During the meeting, the ambassador appreciated the minister’s remarks at a recent meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) on climate change, particularly his emphasis on collective global responsibility and the need for consistency in international climate commitments. 

He acknowledged Pakistan’s advocacy for equitable climate action and greater support for developing countries facing disproportionate climate impacts.

Both sides reaffirmed the longstanding and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, highlighting shared cultural, historical and diplomatic ties.

Ambassador Farhadov extended an invitation to Dr Malik to participate in the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum, scheduled to be held in Baku from May 17 to 22, 2026. The forum will focus on issues related to sustainable urban development, climate resilience and the growing climate–urban nexus.

Dr Malik welcomed the invitation and underscored the importance of continued cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan in advancing climate action and sustainable development initiatives.
