As per the decision adopted at the 29^th Conference of the Parties (COP29) regarding the transition of projects registered under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) to the mechanism established under Article 6.4 of the Paris Agreement, all the existing CDM projects need to transition to A6.4.

All the CDM project proponents are therefore required to submit their requests for transitions to UNFCCC & copy to MoCC&EC by no later than 30^th April 2025 to be eligible for the transition. The transition request must be made through the UNFCCC website with a copy to MoCC&EC. In case the request is not received within the prescribed date, the CDM projects will no longer be able to use the current CDM methodologies and will need to adopt a 6.4 mechanism methodology.

Transitioning projects must comply with the rules, modalities, and procedures established under the Article 6.4 mechanism (available on the UNFCCC website).
